What is this?
A powerful route to achieving gender equality and empowerment of all women is engaging them in governmental institutions to initiate and support policy decisions affecting their environmental, economic, social and cultural lives and livelihood. Strong democratic institutions are built on gender equity inclusive of equal representation and participation by women and men. Our panel discusses strengthening institutions by promoting gender equity in parliamentary bodies at a global level, encouraging women to run for elected office at a national level, and passing the Convention on the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) at the state and local level.
