Donna Ward

Donna Ward  is a trained League moderator and is serving as Vice-President and Chair of Voter Services and for the LWV of the Montclair Area. She is experienced in all aspects of voter services from running candidates forums, speakers meetings and various voter education events.


Donna also serves on the boards of a number of New Jersey non-profits servicing children in foster care, and college preparatory for disadvantaged teens.


She retired happily in 2018 after a 35 year career in global brand marketing, working for consumer packaged goods companies like Bayer, Procter and Gamble, Eastman Kodak and American Cyanamid.

Susan is currently the Connection Committee Chair in the League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area and enjoys getting to know all the members, new and long term members as she continues to get members actively involved in the League. 


She joined the League in early 2017 and quickly became the Voter Registration Chair. In 2020, she was able to successfully recruit a co-chair and together they covered voter registration throughout Essex County via the Town Team platform. The co-chairs along with the Town Teams held over 101 voter registration events (even with covid) and completed 672 voter registration forms in 2020. 


She is committed to the League’s mission of Empowering Voters and Defending Democracy along with the League’s non partisan and grass roots ideals. Her first career was in finance for 23 years and then she was in social work where she worked with foster children and later children with mental health and developmental disabilities for eleven years.

Harvey Susswein
Harvey Susswein

Harvey Susswein last year joined his wife, long-time LWV supporter Jane Susswein, as a member. He has participated in LWV voter registration and in presenting Why Voting Matters to local high schools. He serves as an Essex County poll worker. 


Harvey is retired from a career in the systems integration industry where he designed financial systems for large corporations and governments.  He has prior experience as treasurer for several non-profits. 


Harvey and Jane moved to Verona in 2016 after forty years in Montclair. Harvey has degrees from Princeton University and Wharton Business School He is a former Naval officer and Vietnam veteran.

Louise Haberman
Louise Haberman

A native New Yorker, Louise Haberman followed her grandchildren to the “garden state” of New Jersey. Having served as Co-President of the League of Women Voters of the Town of Oyster Bay, in New York, a couple of decades ago, she now serves as Secretary of the Montclair Area League and is doing her best to understand New Jersey.


Louise has collected candidate information for Essex and Passaic Counties for the League’s VOTE411 database. She has become involved in all levels of the LWV’s efforts including membership in the LWVUS Electoral College Committee, LWVUS Climate Interest Group – Water Task Force, LWVNJ Government Committee, LWVNJ Natural Resources Committee, and LWVMA Environmental Issues

Committee.


In February 2021, Louise retired as a vice president of the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy. Previously she held positions with New Accountant Magazine, Law Journal Seminars Press, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Gale Research. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Brooklyn College and a master’s degree in journalism from Boston University. A resident of Woodland Park, she encourages her neighbors (and others) to join the Montclair Area League.

  • BS Elementary Education and Mathematics.
  • MS Computer Science.
  • Member of this LWV for 50 years and a board member for much of that time.
  • Computer consultant for a number of years.
  • LWV NJ - major project training conflict management skills and teaching the skills to LWVs around NJ. Co-wrote a training manual in conflict management for LWVNJ. 
  • Wrote and sent a presentation on human trafficking to all Leagues in NJ and in the US which resulted in a position by League Montclair, League NJ and LWV US on human trafficking..
  • Represented LWVUS at the United Nations for 20 years.
  • Founding member of the Working Group on Girls at the UN working with UNICEF and on the Working Group steering committee the entire time at the UN. 
  • Lobbied government delegates at many meetings to address the unique problems of girls so that can be added to the official documents. Resulted in getting girls unique problems on the international agenda and having many problems addressed and conditions improved.

Jo Jedd

Jo Anne Jedd has lived in the Montclair area for 36 years and raised three children here who all graduated from Montclair High School.


After graduating from NYU Stern School of Business with an MBA, she spent her career in financial services, working in business development at American Express, JP Morgan Chase and Mastercard.


Retired since 2020, Jo has taken on the role of Chair of Voter Registration and Engagement and joined the board in 2022.

Wendy McNeil
Wendy McNeil

Wendy McNeil is known for being a creative, strong, yet collaborative leader with knowledge of all phases of non-profit management and fundraising. During the course of her career, Wendy has raised over $60 million in major, annual, capital, and planned-gifts.


She loves her community of Montclair where she has lived for over 35 years. She serves on the Montclair Housing Commission and on the Board of Integrity House. As the chair of the Unitarian Universalists Congregation at Montclair’s Undoing Racism Education Team, Wendy has curated and led discussions on powerful women of color, reparations, and Reproductive Justice, among other topics. 


In her spare time, Wendy likes to travel, view and talk about books and films, take her little chihuahua, Zoey, for walks in the park, and spend time with her family and friends.
