Coordinate and respond to requests for participation by the LWV Montclair Area; create events that align with the mission of the League and; coordinate the monthly League meetings.

Ad hoc committee that initiates discussion on an issue for members to investigate and study, and possibly take a position, such as the referendum to move Montclair municipal election to November

Facilitate member engagement and connections along with recruiting new members

Observe Board of Education meetings to gather information about adopted innovations, rationales, educational practices, etc. that lead to efficient, quality education. Create interactive forums, seminars, and Q&A meet and greet opportunities with community stakeholders to review social, emotional, academic, and environmental issues and challenges that may affect children’s lives and their ability to learn.

Raise awareness about local, state, and national environmental issues and about actions residents can take at the local level to address climate change and improve our area’s air and water quality.

Attend local government meetings. Be the "eyes and ears" of the League. Most meetings are virtual, allowing a volunteer to attend from the comfort of their home. Use the Observer Corps report form on our website to give a quick summary of the meeting you attend.

Register as many voters as possible, especially youth and underrepresented communities. Working with other Essex County Leagues and volunteers, create a framework of Town Teams in each community to act as resources for voter registrations.

Educate voters on voting and advocate for voter rights

Make presentations to high school and college students with the goals of: 1) Exploring reasons why students don’t vote; 2) Educating students on the importance of being an informed and active voter and; 3) Engaging students in the voter registration process.
